Torrhus Canyon & Critter Safari: the SkyBlock 0.27 update

On 4 August 2026 Hypixel shipped two new islands in a single release — the first time SkyBlock has done that. This is what changed, what it means for the market, and which parts nobody can verify yet.

The two new islands

Torrhus Canyon

The second Foraging island of the Galatea region, and the first half of the largest content drop SkyBlock has shipped in a single update. Where Moonglade Marsh taught the Foraging loop, Torrhus Canyon raises it: tougher trees, a second whisper currency, and three collections that upgrade the gear you brought with you.

How to get there: Reach Heart of the Forest 4, then take the launch pad from Moonglade Marsh.

Critter Safari

SkyBlock's first island built entirely around Hunting. You enter on a ticket rather than a warp, alone or with up to three others, and work four biomes for critters rather than kills — Critters cannot be damaged, only hunted.

How to get there: Earn a Safari Ticket by placing highly in Miria's contests, then take the blimp from the Safari Entrance on the right-hand side of Torrhus Canyon.

Three new collections

All three are Foraging collections and all three run to nine tiers, confirmed against Hypixel’s live collections resource. Each one upgrades gear you first picked up on the Moonglade Marsh.

Progression changes

Heart of the Forest 8
HOTF now runs to eight tiers, with the tree reshuffled so newer players reach key perks sooner. Sweep sits at HOTF 1; Monster Hunter, Timber, Essence Fortune and Beekeeper sit at HOTF 8.
Forest and Desert Whispers
Whispers split in two. Forest Whispers come from Fig and Mangrove Trees and upgrade HOTF 1–3; Desert Whispers come from Helix Trees and upgrade HOTF 4–8. Holdings above 12,500 Forest Whispers were converted to Desert Whispers 1:1.
Hunting to 50
The Hunting skill cap doubled from 25 to 50, confirmed by the live skills resource. Hunter Fortune was renamed Hunting Fortune.
Charm Chance
Now an official Hunting stat. Like Sea Creature Chance and Treasure Chance it scales 0%–100%, raising the chance that a viable mob drops an Attribute Shard.
Torrhus Chapters
An island-wide chapter track introduced by Helia that guides exploration of Torrhus Canyon.
Critterdex and Safari Milestones
Each biome's Milestones grant a different stat: Icy gives Cold Resistance, Forest gives Foraging Fortune, Haunted gives Hunting Fortune, and Canyon increases Rarity while granting Hunting Wisdom. The Critterdex records catches, and a separate Sparkling Critterdex tracks all 37 sparkling variants.

Shards, hunting and the market

This is the part that moves coins. The live Bazaar went from 189 Attribute Shard products to 320 on release day — a 69% expansion of the shard economy in one update — and one further shard, Rainbug, exists only as a fusion output. SkyFuse’s pinned price snapshot from 26 July recorded all 189 then-existing shards with no gaps, which is how the additions can be attributed to this release rather than to a hole in our data.

  • Every Pest now drops its own shardFly, Cricket, Locust, Rat, Mosquito, Mite, Moth, Firefly, Dragonfly and Field Mouse each have a guaranteed shard. Termite became Earthworm and Pest became Field Mouse; Slug became Keeled Slug and Beetle became Cropeetle.
  • Critter stamina now scales with shard rarityOne stamina bar for a COMMON shard through five for a LEGENDARY, with bar colours following the item rarity system.
  • Hunting gear gained shard-type bonusesEntangler Lasso grants +2.5 Hunting Fortune on Forest shards, the Medium Fishing Net +2.5 on Water shards, and the Pocket Black Holes +2.5 and +5 on Combat shards.
  • Two fusions became GenericCropeetle no longer needs Invisibug + Pest, and Praying Mantis no longer needs Pest + Combat. Both are now Generic fusions.

SkyFuse's canonical registry now holds all 321 live shards — 320 traded on the Bazaar, plus Rainbug, which has no Bazaar product. Every one carries its live name, game id, rarity, category and family, cross-checked against two independently maintained post-release datasets. The fusion graph now holds 257,195 rows across 316 obtainable outputs: the August 11 patch made Shard Fusion prefer higher rarity and resolve Special Fusions before ID Fusions, which removed a large set of unintended ID-fusion routes.

Every new shard is priced live on the Shard Market alongside the originals — same table, same tools — and participates fully in All Fusions, Best Fusion, Multi-Step Routes and Fusion Depth through the regenerated 257,195-row fusion graph.

Contests

Miria's Starlyn ContestsHosted by Miria on Torrhus Canyon. Placing highly awards Safari Tickets, which are the only way into the Critter Safari. No exact recurrence is published, so SkyFuse does not show a countdown.

What SkyFuse does not claim yet

This release added far more than Hypixel publishes machine-readable data for. Rather than fill the difference with guesses, the gaps are listed here and marked as unverified wherever they appear on the site.

  • Where shard metadata comes fromNames, game ids, rarities, categories, families and the full fusion graph are integrated from current post-release community-maintained datasets (the SkyShards fusion data, the Skyblock Things spreadsheet by Georik, and the Community Wiki), cross-validated against each other, the live Bazaar and the official release notes. All 321 shards agree across sources; one category disagreement (Starborn) is recorded and resolved by two-source majority.
  • Official textures for v0.27 itemsThe official SkyBlock resource pack has not been redeployed since 22 July 2026. Shard icons render from the same community pipeline the site has always used; item textures follow when the pack ships.
  • Starlyn Contest scheduleNo exact recurrence is published, so SkyFuse still shows no countdown for Miria's contests.
